WELCOME TO VELOCITY BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE WITH RYAN ESTES
I drove 8 blocks to meet Laura at her office. It took me a half hour. GroundFloor Media is a stones throw from Coors Field and on this particular day, the Rockies were warming up for a home game. GroundFloor Media sits right between Lower Downtown Denver and a neighborhood called River North. Both areas are bursting with energy these days. I suppose it’s appropriate that Laura is positioned right in the center of all the action.
She’s used to it after all.
Although our meeting was brief, I could tell she’s the calm at the center of the storm. Laura leads a team of 40 professionals and creatives – not an easy task. She spends a lot of time learning how her team’s personality traits strengthen and compliment the group. These insights foster cohesion for client work and afford her the time to focus on perhaps her greatest ability – lending a helping hand.
Community involvement is not only a passion, but a way of life for Laura. Since she launched the agency, Laura has dedicated at least 15 percent of GFM’s work to nonprofit clients and pro bono accounts. She serves on numerous boards including Downtown Denver Inc., Early Milestones Colorado, Emmanuel Sanders Foundation, Havern School, Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center and Tennyson Center for Children. She is a member of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the communications and marketing committee for The Denver Foundation, and she serves on the Denver Art Museum’s marketing & strategic alliance committee. She is also past president of the Colorado chapter of the Entrepreneur’s Organization (EO).
