One of Us: Katrina Pfannkuch
Social Media is most effective when people share something real about themselves, when their work reflects a humanity we can all relate too. How lucky are we to be able to discover and share people like Katrina? Only a few decades ago, all of us would have been born into a world that was small and isolated. Thoreau famously wrote: “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.” I think the Internet chips away at that lonliness, gives us the opportunity to sing our songs. Katrina Pfannkuch sounds good to me:
I am a Deep listener, intuitive guide and clarity-inducer as well as a creative soul in all I do.
I’m a debater at heart, big thinker and passionate soul who loves to explore new ways to be share love and light. I was born in the mild, fairly boring state of Connecticut. At least it was southern CT, close to NYC. It’s known as the Constitution State and/or the Nutmeg state. I work as a creative and business consultant, writer, entrepreneur, Reiki Master and Light Resonance Healer. Where business meets creative spark. I work with consultants, entrepreneurs, small businesses and alternative and metaphysical practitioners. I grew up n a haze of 70s light rock, Land of the Lost episodes within a suburban family of four with one younger sister.
Nickname: Hurricane, Pancake or Hurricane Pancake. I think the first is fairly obvious, but the second is for my last name, which means Pancake in German.
I appreciate my ability to manage social situations with grace and my ability to read what people are really saying/feeling beneath the surface. If I could, I would change my affection for coffee freshly brewed, press pot coffee. I love it, but it sometimes doesn’t really love me.
Favorite TV Show:
- Watching Days of Our Lives. I’ve been watching it since I was 10 years old or younger. You can keep your reality television. Throw in some coffee and it’s off the charts awesome.
- Breaking Bad. That show is so well written and one of the few that actually surprises me. That and nature specials.
Diet: A fairly decent balance of meats, veggies and salt and vinegar chips. Dark chocolate is a must. Slack on the fruits a bit out side of apples, but love throwing fresh fruit on homemade pancakes.
I love working with others to help them shift their perspective on any number of things, and providing them with tools to access their own inner guidance. The best part is the a-ha moment when they peek inside themselves with clarity and joy. I think people are always looking for a way to make their lives easier, but not necessarily happier and more joyful. I’m inspired by others who live their passion.
Hero: Tina Fey — aka Liz Lemon. Funny lady, great comedic timing and not afraid to poke fun at real life things without apologies. And she is just herself, even when it’s painfully awkward. Work is really boring if you have to do the same thing all the time without room for growth and expansion.
My greatest anxiety is not living a life of joy due to my own limiting thoughts, combined with being unable to make a living led by joy.
If I could do anything I’d take some time off to study Shamanism. I find it fascinating and I absolutely love animals. My secret hobby is beading. I make some of my own jewelry and people always ask me where I bought it.
Favorite book: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I read it as an adult and thought it was superb, and his message is so timeless.
People generally don’t know that I used to work with rehabbing injured wild animals.
Most of the time I’m looking at ways to take what I’ve learned and turn it into writing to inspire others.
- I wish I could do design work so I could be a double whammy and create the creative visions I see in my mind.
- My greatest achievement is yet to come.
- I found love at work. We became amazing friends for a few years first, and now have been a solid, loving couple for 4 years.
Favorite Song: Ray LaMontange’s Empty. Such a soulful song that connects with pain and gives hope at the same time.
